Issues with MK5 Fiesta Clutch Slip After Replacement

  • Hello

After recently replacing the clutch, clutch plate & clutch slave cylinder on my 2002 MK5 Fiesta 1.4 16V petrol, the car worked fine for a few weeks. However, I have now started experiencing clutch slip with high revs but no movement, as well as juddering upon acceleration.:mellow

I have double-checked the installation; but I'm unsure of the exact cause. Could it be a problem with the clutch components or something else like the flywheel or hydraulic system? :question The clutch seems to disengage too early, and there's a noticeable delay in power transfer.

I've also noticed a strange noise when the car is in gear and the clutch is engaged. I have checked https://www.fordfiesta.org/thr…sion-clutch-problem.7865/mongodb guide for reference .

Any advice would be greatly appreciated & I'm open to suggestions for further diagnostics or repairs.:grin

    Thanks in advance!:grin

  • The clutch itself is probably not defective ... at least I would believe that. Should there be oil dripping from the gearbox bellhouse you can smell the difference of engine oil and gearbox oil. Gearbox oil has got a distinctive Sulphurous smell, a bit like on a scrapyard in summer.

Reason could be a broken Pilot Bearing or the Input Shaft bearing leading to extensive play of the input shaft which will be destroying the input shaft's oil seal in no time ...

It goes without saying that there may be a leaking clutch slave cylinder as well ...
